To splurge or to save? 3 foundations worth the splurge

the splurge

It is amazing how foundation can transform the skin. Especially if you’re like me and perform minor surgery on any blemish you find on your face. Like the time I turned a minor bump on my cheek into what looked like a cigar burn. Figuring out how to cover the “burn” without applying spackle is tricky.

That is why I love a good foundation. It can cover imperfections and simultaneously make the skin look beautiful. Every day, a celebrity releases a new cosmetic line- Kim, Kylie, Rhianna, the list goes on. And, foundation is expensive. Most people don't have the time or money to sample a few foundations to find their favorite. So, I've done that for you! These are the foundations that I have used on myself, on my clients, and are worth every penny.

1) Diorskin Airflash Spray -$62.00

Pros:

Diorskin Airflash is the only way to get the airbrushed effect to your skin without the expensive airbrush makeup equipment and training. Airflash’s formula is light-weight, super smooth, and feels like a second skin. And, you can build the foundation if some areas need a little more coverage- like a cigar burn on your face. While Dior advocates for spraying the makeup directly on your skin, I suggest spraying it on a dense kabuki brush and then working the foundation into the skin.

Cons:

Besides the obvious downside of the high price tag- another con of Airflash is the limited shade range

2) Clinique Even Better Makeup- $29

Pros:

Clinique Even Better Makeup is the multitasker of foundation. It improves the skin’s clarity, diminishes dark marks, and protects the skin with an SPF 15. It also does the expected job of a foundation with a medium coverage and natural finish.  I recommend applying this foundation with a damp beauty sponge.

Cons:

The only con for this makeup is the size. It only comes in a 1 oz. bottle that tends to run out quickly.

3) Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick- $46
Pros:

This Bobbi Brown foundation is literally award-winning. And, is the only foundation I use on my clients. The innovative formula has Smart Technology that gives your skin moisture or oil control- whatever your skin needs! It also helps even the skin tone and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It photographs beautifully and has 30 shades to choose from.

Cons:

One con is that this foundation is a medium-full coverage foundation. So, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who prefers a light-weight, skin-like feel.

These are the foundations that I swear by. Do you have any others to add? Let me know in the comments.
